News from the National Keep Britain Tidy Campaign, in which our community of Sharlston and New Sharlston were registered to take part in.
A record-breaking 563,163 of us joined the Great British Spring Clean campaign this year.
We shared our results on the Keep Britain Tidy website.
• How many people took part
• How many minutes we picked up litter for
• How many bags of litter were collected and
• What type of litter was collected (plastic bottles, aluminium cans or general waste).
Thank you for all those who took part you made a real difference in our local community – every piece of litter counts!
The Great British Spring Clean was held from 22 March – 23 April 2019 and during that time collectively we:
- Took part in 17,097 clean-ups.
- Collected 957,377 bags of litter (around 39% will be recycled).
- Spent 1.1 million hours litter picking.
It is now the country’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign. We couldn’t have done it without your support!
Together we can create change and bring an end to litter pollution.
